Alan S. Morrison has been appointed a CIPR Accredited PR Practitioner.

Alan S. Morrison has had his commitment to professional excellence recognised by his professional body, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), by being appointed a CIPR Accredited PR Practitioner.

Alan, who owns and runs ASM Media & PR, has been working in PR since 2011 after 23 years working in radio and newspapers as a photojournalist, editor and picture editor.

After satisfying the criteria to become a full Member of the CIPR, the UK’s professional body for public relations, Alan started adding to his extensive PR experience by building his professional knowledge and skills through the CIPR’s annual CPD scheme.

Now, after twice completing more than the required amount of annual professional learning with reading, webinars and podcasts on ethics, research, planning, evaluation, crisis planning & management, digital PR, internal communications, stakeholder management and events, as well as exceeding the minimum requirement for voluntary work using his professional skills, Alan has been recognised by the CIPR as an Accredited PR Practitioner on its PR Register and gained the right to use the designation ‘MCIPR Accredited PR Practitioner’ after his name.

‘Hallmark of professional excellence’

The CIPR describes its Accredited PR Practitioner honour as “a hallmark of your commitment to professional excellence. It shows that you are committed to keeping your professional skills and knowledge up-to-date and continually developing and broadening your horizons.” It means that clients can be assured that the skills and knowledge Alan uses are best practice and he has made a commitment to keep them up-to-date.

Speaking about receiving this honour from his professional body, Alan said: ”I’m delighted to have my commitment to professional excellence in public relations recognised by the CIPR in this way. I’m continuing my professional development with dedicated weekly time for further CPD and plan to apply to become a Chartered Practitioner in due course. This will ensure my clients benefit from best practice knowledge and skills in all areas of public relations.

“I’m also continuing my professional development with courses on digital marketing offered by Google and The Open University. So far I’ve passed the Google Digital Garage 40-hour course Fundamentals of Digital Marketing and Google Analytics for Beginners and completed The Open University OpenLearn course Marketing communications as a strategic function.”

Alan started ASM Media & PR in April 2012 and his clients include Scaramanga, Angus Solutions Ltd, Caltech Lifts Ltd, Foodmek, The Strathmore Rugby Club Community Trust, Zest Café, BID St Andrews and Carnegie UK Trust. For examples of his PR work go here.
